We Have Arrived!!
Good Morning Heart Family! It’s been an amazing few days since our arrival here in Togo… We landed in the port city of Lome, Togo around noon on Friday, June 2nd… It took about 2.5 hours to clear the airport with visas, customs, etc… then we caught a shuttle to the hotel… We are two families of 6 so we each got a bungalow… The pool was refreshing, the pizza tasty and it was good to have our feet on the ground after our 4 hour and 10 hour flights… Here’s our team: Jonathan & Anna Bayes, children: Landon 17, Bailey 15, Weston 13, Oakley 5… Luke & Cheryl Goossen, children: Seth 14, Carli 12, Cody 8, Jaime 5.
Saturday: I met a friend Komi about 10:30 and we went to look for some phone cards and a driver to take us inland to Atakpame… we hailed a motorcycle and each jumped on one… after finding phone cards we made our way to a taxi station where we made a deal with the owner of a 15 passenger VW van… he took us back to the hotel where we loaded up… All our belongings went on the rack above and we piled inside… windows wide open for lack of air conditioner… we stopped at a restaurant before heading out of town and when we finally reached our destination it was well past dark… A quick stop at the roadside markets gave us bananas, mangos, and bread… We arrived at Hotel Roc, unloaded our baggage, ordered two suites and settled in for the night…
Sunday: Spent the day at the hotel… seeking God for further direction and moving forward… we ordered edibles at the hotel restaurant, secured some motorcycles for a few weeks and made connections for a van the next morning… a few trips to the roadside stands again provided us with fresh fruit, and bread… we had an encounter today with one of the hotel staff named Dusere... Jon and Anna have not let the language barrier get in their way and they’d made friends with a number of the hotel staff… We ended up praying for Dusere and after he said that his asthma was leaving… after praying again he was completely healed…his breathing free… he wanted teaching on Holy Spirit baptism and receiving the gifts and was eager and ready to receive… The tangible presence of the Lord was felt by all… Dusere included. Thank-you Jesus!
