Monday, July 17 - Heading to Lome … with Samson … business and groceries … don’t know if it will take one day or four days … depends on what we discover.
The ac stops working … the engine is overheating … and the front tire is going flat … 🤯 refilled the radiator with water … now to change the front tire…
Unfortunately the spare tire was bolted on with a special lug nut for which there was no key 😏 not sure what the thinking was on that… so we removed the tire and rolled it to the roadside where a moto driver was hailed… The tire rode upright on my lap behind the driver… couldn’t see where we were going but we got there.
Sidewalk tire repair shop…
Air escape… when he saw it he said it would be really expensive to fix… At least 3000 francs… I told him to go ahead… that’s less than $6.00
A homemade plug and patch in the making… two apprentices watching… they learn a trade young here…
Contact cement and a patch…
Meanwhile Cheryl and the children waited outside the grocery store…
Repair made… back to the wheel…
Ready to go!!
Just over an hour from start to finish…
Our business was done after a few more stops so we headed back to Atakpamé… takes about 3 hours from downtown beachside Lome to hotel… was a late evening…
Tuesday, July 18 - A day at home… Seth and Cody enjoy a game of “Settlers of Catan”…
Wednesday, July 19 - Back to the village… Jeremy has been working on a deal for some land for us… The surveyor showed him the limits of the land so we came to scope it out again…
They have agreed to sell one hectare for 1,000,000 francs… that equates to about $1725.00…
From “our land” looking back toward the village… on the way we noticed this rainbow… it stayed there until we returned, and vanished shortly after… 💞 another reminder of God’s Love and Promises…
Thursday, July 20 - At home today… out in the village Jeremy and his boys make some cement blocks which the surveyor will use for marking the corners of our property…
Friday, July 21 - Today the surveyor and his helpers measured out our hectare, installed the cement markers, then he left for Atakpamé to register and get all the paperwork…
Setting markers…
Saturday, July 22 - The surveyor returned in the afternoon with the official documents… this is one…
Sunday, July 23 - Land surveyed… documents received… putting money down on land in Togo 🇹🇬…!! 🙌 … next Jeremy will meet with the land owners and get all their signatures…
Went to our good friend Yaovi and Mawunyo’s for a tasty supper of corn meal and sauce… Mmm… 😋 heavy showers in the evening… got home late…
Monday, July 24 - Jeremy meets with the land owners… the land belonged to the family of the village chief… money is dispersed and papers are signed…

Thank you also to all who read this!
As we near the end of our initial trip to Togo, we are thankful for the connections that have been made and the doors that have opened…
As from the beginning, even tho the whole picture is not complete, we always have enough direction for the next step forward…
With the purchase of land we believe that our return will involve the construction of the mission compound… I have a visual in my mind what it will look like and the details are still coming together… Over the next year, I plan to finalize the drawings and hope to share them together w/3D renderings…
Once again, we invite you to partner with us… Blessings!!
